Barefoot Doctors and its members commit themselves to :
- Recognize the right to health for all people, following the guidelines of the World Health Organization, based on a conception of the relationship between community of people north and south, without seeking to impose an uniform technical or cultural pattern;
- Participate in the promotion of health in under-medical respecting traditional medicines and promoting the cultural approach of the people;
- Create an endogenous development based on the local population, which designs and implements its own development according to their basic needs and the available resources on the spot;
- Focus on ethno-medicine, a science that scrutinizes medicine and health in all its shapes, beyond its biological reality;
- Ensure health and nutrition education of the people and the training of local health workers to avoid creating needs;
- Team up with other locals or international NGO to strengthen actions and achieve a harmonious, genuine and lasting development;
- Educate the public opinion to contribute to a collective awareness and solidarity;
- Comply with the universal principles of medical ethics, completely independently, without discrimination of race, politics or philosophy.
